AGM: 1st April 5.30pm at Clayesmore School. George Hosford, the Dorset farmer well known for his environmental credentials, gave a talk on “Farming and its Future in Dorset”.
Farm visit: Eighteen members of North Dorset CPRE went on a tour of George and Dougal Hosford's farm in Durweston on the 11th June. This followed on from George's successful talk at the North Dorset CPRE AGM.  He is arguably the best known farmer in North Dorset with strong  environmental credentials and a keen interest in showing groups around his mixed-use farm , whether they be school children or CPRE. Everyone enjoyed the chance to see round the farm, and talk to George about it. There were opportunities to admire wild flower margins, see hundreds of beautiful orchids in one of his fields, as well as some rather pretty Angus/Hereford cross cattle, and also take in wonderful views over the Stour Valley.
Summer Party: We are not holding a Spring party this year, but we are holding a late Summer party at Chettle House at 6pm on 5th September through the generosity of Tom and Rosamond Sweet-Escott. They have spent the last three years restoring Chettle and its gardens to its former glory so it will be wonderful to have the chance to visit. Pevsner called it "the plum among Dorset houses of the early 18th century, and even nationally outstanding as a specimen of English Baroque". Invites will be sent closer to the date.
