Local groups
Your local group and planning
Local groups (also referred to as district groups) are the face of Dorset CPRE in your local area. We currently have four active local groups working across Dorset. With assistance from our Planning Advisor, who checks validated planning application on a weekly basis, our local groups monitor and influence local planning decisions affecting the countryside.
Other work local groups undertake include campaigning on local issues of concern and taking practical action to help improve the local environment and protect your green space.
The four local groups within Dorset CPRE and their Chairs are:
- North Dorset – Rupert Hardy
- Purbeck and Poole – Gerald Rigler
- Sherborne and District Society (covering the DT9 postcode area) – Sir Christopher Coville
- West Dorset – this covers mainly the Western and Southern Area – Dr Guy Dickinson
East Dorset – we are currently looking to re-establish this group
Please see back page of our magazine ‘The Dorset Review’ for their contact details.
Locals groups – can you help?
In order that we can keep doing all that we can for the countryside, we are always in need of help. Our local groups are always looking for new volunteers to help with a range of activities to make a real difference to the local countryside. If you have a spare few hours and are interested in getting more heavily involved in issues such as planning or policy, we would love to hear from you.
If you think you could assist and be involved with your local district group, please email info@dorset-cpre.org.uk.
