Portland Waste Incinerator

Portland Waste Incinerator Demonstration 12th September Portland Waste Incinerator Demonstration 12th September Taken by Guy Dickinson

12th November 2020

Dorset CPRE objects very strongly to this application to build a waste incinerator within the setting of the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. Deadline for responses 23rd November

We wrote about this proposal in the autumn edition of our magazine 'The Dorset Review'. The main reasons for objecting are the location, the projected CO2 figures, the 80 HGV journeys (40 each way) through the tiny main street of Wyke (past All Saints School etc.), the 85-metre-tall chimney, Powerfuel’s insistence that the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) can come from anywhere in the world, and 3 hours’ drive time for fuel arriving by road.

The deadline for comments on the Minerals and Waste planning application WP/20/00692/DCC is extended to 23rd November

Stop Portland Waste Incinerator commissioned consultants report from Adams Hendry Consultancy Ltd; Air Quality Consultants; and Jonathan Cox Associates Ecological Consultancy. Coe Design Landscape Architects provided a review of the Landscape, Seascape and Visual Effects aspects of the Planning Application documents. Dorset CPRE contributed funds towards the reports. All the reports are available to view on the Stop Portland Waste Incinerator website as well as a comprehensive list of reasons to say no to this application and a template letter.

Please see below Dorset CPRE's letter of objection sent to Dorset Council.
